Jia Xuan is the co-founder of an education technology start-up named Codomo. Codomo is co-founded by a group of SUTD pioneer graduates who are interested in bringing innovation in learning and autonomy in education for the next generation. Visit www.codomo.com.sg to find out more! Jia Xuan graduated with a Master of Architecture degree majoring in Architecture and Sustainable Design from Singapore University of Technology and Design. Jia Xuan is a hardworking and diligent student with strong perseverance in her commitments. She graduated Magna Cum Laude for her Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Architecture and Sustainable Design. She also achieved the SUTD Merit Scholarship award when she was admitted to SUTD. During her time in college, Jia Xuan founded the Netball club in SUTD and served as the president for 3 years. She is a capable leader who displays good organizational skills and her tenacity as she led the team through its infancy. Being interested in humanitarian and entrepreneurial work that improves and benefit people's lives through design. Her thesis under the theme of Shifting Demographics, is a localized slum upgrading approach that aims to help cope with the rising squatter population in industrialized zones in Yangon, Myanmar. She believes in leveraging on the community to effect changes as a collective. Besides her involvement in academics and sports, Jia Xuan was also part of the team called In My Back Yard (IMBY) who is starting a movement of readapting forgotten spaces into lively public spaces through placemaking and community participation in Singapore. With kind generosity and support from Re:act and The Shophouse & Co, IMBY participated in the Singapore Design Week Design Trails by revamping the backalley of a final stop in the Design Trails to invite the public to reimagine the backalley space, how it could host various activities for different communities and spark a dialogue on the use of such forgotten spaces for the public.
